BCC Ride Ambassador Program

As a club that supports safe group ride practices, the Ride Ambassador Program is core to our philosophy. A Ride Ambassador is assigned to each club group ride. The ambassador’s role is to ensure everyone feels welcome before, during, and after the ride. Ambassadors do not need to be in the A Group. In fact, expect to act as a “mid-sweep” and fall back to wait up for anyone who got dropped. Our goal is to avoid anyone from having to ride alone unless they choose it.

The Boulder Cycling Club has over 150 rides on the calendar this season and we need your help with this ambitious schedule.  We are looking for volunteers to help lead our rides,

As a ride ambassador, we ask that you help organize the different ride groups and that the ride rolls out on time.  You will ride with the last group out on the road (or gravel) and make sure that nobody gets left behind.  At the end of the ride, the club and our sponsor locations will treat you to your first post-ride beer.

So what’s new this season?  First, if you don’t like speaking in front of the whole club, no problem!  Just let us know and one of the club’s board members will be happy to give the pre-ride talk and introduce you as the ambassador for the ride.  Second, the club has published all of our weekly rides in a downloadable format, so there’s no need to memorize every turn on the bike path.  We hope that these changes will make it easier for all of our members who would like to help out.

For those members who volunteer to lead five or more rides, we have two other benefits.  You will be invited to a Padelne Riding Skills Clinic.  You will learn (or be reminded of) the skills to ride safely and efficiently in a group setting – skills that can be shared with the rest of our members.  You will also be eligible for $50 credit towards club events and merchandise.  It’s our way of saying thank you for your help through the season.

Our ride schedule is available here:  BCC Ride Calendar

You can sign up there for the ride (or rides) that fit your schedule.  You can also leave your contact information as a way for others to contact you in the event that you or others need to trade ride dates.  This is how we’ll keep track of multiple rides as well, so you’ll want to sign up soon.  If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to Jerrod Hohman.  Let me know if you have any questions.
