Advocacy Efforts We Support

The Boulder Cycling Club hopes to create a better community by working with governments, allied organizations, neighborhoods, and our members to advocate for cyclists throughout  Boulder County.  If you would like to participate in the BCC Advocacy Committee or help in any way, email us today! Some of the issues we support are summarized below.

Share the road
GO Boulder/city of Boulder is partnering with the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) to promote the “Share the Road” campaign – a unified state-wide effort urging all roadway users to share the road. Smart choices make using Boulder’s roads, paths and trails safer, and more enjoyable for everyone. Bicyclists, walkers and motorists all share our city’s roads and all have equal rights. Nothing counts more than safety and courtesy. Share the road and trail. Click here for more information.

Valmont Bike Park
As a top level project of the Boulder Mountainbike Alliance, Valmont Bike Park is being created through the partnering and cooperation of the City of Boulder Parks and Recreation, the International Mountain Biking Association and their trail building resources and expertise, and, most importantly, members of the Boulder community at large who have volunteered massive labor, management, and financial support to the Park. This unique harmony has enabled the town to create an environment that exemplifies the region’s stunning natural beauty and the commitment to sustaining the natural habitat of the park’s surroundings. http://bma-mtb.org/valmontbikepark/

Honor the Stop

Honor the Stop is a new, not-for-profit community-driven campaign promoting safe, promoting safe, courteous and respectful use of roadways. Through a personal pledge to obey all roadway laws, the Honor the Stop initiative encourages respect for those killed or suffering serious injury in traffic accidents. No one group or individual is more or less important than any other. It is a simple non-divisive and non-partisan message for all, regardless of how they use the roads. www.honorthestop.org/

Boulder Mountainbike Alliance

The Boulder Mountainbike Alliance acts as an advocate for mountain biking in Boulder County. We meet frequently with local elected officials, representatives of other stakeholder groups, and managers of all relevant land management agencies. We represent the interests of the mountain biking community in local city, county, state, and federal land management planning activities. Boulder Mountainbike Alliance,

Lyons-Boulder (LyBO) Trail:
This project suffered a serious setback when the Boulder County Board of Commissioners decided to table the project while leaving the door open for future efforts. We are evaluating strategies to resurrect the project. One thing you can right now to support this project is to join the Lyons-Boulder Trail Facebook group, to show your support for this trail and keep current on any developments.
