On a serious note: I had a long discussion with Commander  Scott Williams of the Boulder County Sheriff’s department in regards to cycling issues that have been so widely publicized in Boulder over the past several months. In a nutshell the Sheriff is reaching out to the cycling community and working as a liaison to try and solve some of the problems especially in regards to close in Mountain areas like Jamestown, Left Hand Canyon, Olde Stage, and Lee Hill Road

The Boulder Cycling Club
has embraced the idea and we will have our own spokesman available to present our concerns and ideas. A few of the ideas being discussed is more signage and possible addition of bike lanes. Also, be aware that enforcement of the laws of the road will continue by the sheriff’s department. As a club we believe in obeying the rules of the road especially speed limits and stop sign/ red light stopping. Remember it is over $100.00 ticket for rolling through a stop light or sign and you will be given one if a police officer sees you do it. The club believes in SAFETY FIRST! As our ride groups get bigger it becomes even more important to not only obey the rules of the road but to be courteous out there on the road.
The Sunrise Century and the Dusty Boot Century are both this weekend. We have some club members heading up to Summit County for the Dusty Boot so if your interested send me an email and we’ll get you in touch with each other.
