Now that the holidays are over and we are all getting back into the swing of things it’s time to think about 2009 and upcoming events and rides.
Speaking of rides with the predicted warm weather this weekend remember our good friends at Bicycle Village sponsor the Saturday morning ride. Meet at 9:15 am and depart 9:30 am.

In addition they also have the ongoing spin class at the YMCA if you’d rather do that. Meet at Bicycle Village at 10:30 am and walk over to the YMCA for a 11:00 class. George is a great instructor and I’ve enjoyed many of his classes already this winter—keep those legs in shape, Spring will be here before you know it!

Speaking of outdoor rides, weather permitting, Jim and Sue continue to host the Tuesday “Nooner” ride up to NCAR. Check the calendar on the website for details.
To encourage bike commuters to give it a try in the winter months GO Boulder is having a Winter Bike to Work Day next Wednesday January 21. If your interested click here.
The January Monthly Meeting is Tuesday January 27 at REI in Boulder at 7:00 pm. This will be a very interactive meeting where we will discuss the upcoming organized ride schedule for the year, the big Pre Season Kickoff Party in February, organizing a team to ride in the summer distance rides and a training schedule for those who want to improve their riding capacity this year. In addition, Herschel from Boulder Mountainbike Alliance will be there to discuss our new affiliation with this great organization. Their work in regards to bike advocacy and the Valmont park is super and we hope to lend them as much support as we can as a club in 2009. Come on out and join us we want to hear your ideas!
The Pre Season Kickoff Party is indeed in the works and we hope to be bigger and better then last year! Put this date on your calender – Wednesday February 18th at Bicycle Villagefrom  6:00 to 9:00pm. We will have food from Whole Foods, beer from our friends at Boulder Beer, lots of great prizes and plenty of cycling oriented booths.
Stay tuned for more information in upcoming emails.  What better way to kickoff the cycling year and meet like minded recreational cyclists!
As you can see we hope to bring you more organized rides and events this year and to do that we need your help. If your interested in volunteering please contact me directly at donald@bouldercyclingclub.com. We look forward to a great year on the BIKE!
