Summer riding has arrived! Temperatures soaring into the nineties (ok, so for one day at least!) It never ceases to amaze me that even in the hottest temperatures here in Boulder, riding a bike is a pleasant experience.

Last Friday was a very entertaining experience with Bob Roll and Gary Fisher chatting and answering questions from the crowd at the new Trek Store in Bas Mar Shopping Plaza. Bob talked about what life on the “Tour” for 3 weeks is like both as a racer and now, as a journalist covering it for the Versus network. It sounds rather grueling (esp. when he tries to keep up with the drinking habits of his 2 announcing sidekicks!) Gary discussed the latest trends in Mtn biking coming out of California (as he said you know it all starts out there and as California goes so goes the rest of the country eventually). In Marin County where he resides he’s seeing a surge in High School racing supported by the parents because it gives the kids a great outlet for there energy. He also talked about one of the fastest growing segments of the market is the “commuter” type bikes with more people utilizing a bike to get around town especially in the urban areas. All in all a fun time was had by all and big thanks to the owners of the Trek Store for bringing these entertaining guys to Boulder.[singlepic=82,320,240,,]

Another true sign of summer is the arrival of looking for a GREAT place to ride. Patrick from Chicago hit the ground riding last week and didn’t stop riding to he got back on the plane back to Chicago! out-of-staters! It’s fun to show people all the great rides and cycling atmosphere we tend to take for granted living here.

Take a look at photos from last Sunday morning at Amantes and Gary Fisher here . Welcome to all of you travelling through and feel free to join in on a ride with us or email us with questions at info@bouldercyclingclub.com

The air is full of century rides with the Sunrise Century this weekend and remember Marie’s Blue River Century is only a week away. let’s help support one of our members as she rolls out this inaugural ride out of Keystone. She still needs volunteers to help, so if your interested email us at info@bouldercyclingclub.com for more info.

If you’ve never volunteered at one of these events take it from me it’s a lot of fun plus it makes you feel good to help such a good cause. I’ll be going up to help out so join me in all the fun in a beautiful setting.

All the rides for the month are posted on the calendar page of the website so for more information on specific rides check it out!

Have fun and get out there and RIDE.
